Every glass chip is unique, and we appreciate how important it is to fix them correctly because if they fail, not only is it a safety concern but also you are up for the costs of a new windscreen as well as the cost of the initial repair.

How Do You Repair Windscreen Chips?

Chips are repaired via the attachment of a special machine onto the windscreen, which then applies pressure and injects resin right into the middle of the chip.

When done correctly, this is a safe and effective method for repairing your windscreen and will leave your glass with full visibility and strength.

Will All Windscreen Chips & Cracks Still be Visible After Repairs?

Chips and cracks cannot always be rendered invisible during the repair process, and not all of them are repairable.

For example, if the chip is bigger than a $1 coin or close to the edge of the windscreen (<5cm), or within the driver’s field of vision, and not conforming to RMS recommendations, the windscreen will most likely need to be replaced.

You can rest assured, however, that if there is any way to repair vs replace, we will do so.

That said, your safety is our primary concern, and we will never knowingly advise to repair a windscreen when the only safe option is to replace it.

We’ll always do our best to repair your windscreen so long as the crack falls within the following guidelines:

• Chip is at least 5cm from the edge of the windscreen
• If the chip is in the critical vision area, it must be smaller than a 5c coin
• If the chip is in from of the passenger area, it must be smaller than a $1 coin

We’ll do our best to make the chip less visible, but there might be some spots that you can still see even after we’ve cleaned and polished. This will be just cosmetic – our process means you can be sure all cracks are fully filled. 

On rare occasions a chip can issue further micro-cracks after the initial repair. This is from the initial impact and part of the physics of the whole process. If this happens, we’ll credit the cost of the repair towards a replacement windscreen.
